Auf der Zweijahreskonferenz der European Society for Ecological Economics (ESEE) vom 5.-8. Juni 2007 in Leipzig wurde durch die Syntheseforschung ein Symposium mit dem Titel "Economics and Sustainability" veranstaltet. Auf zwei Sitzungen wurden zwölf Projekte aus dem Förderschwerpunkt einer internationalen Fachöffentlichkeit vorgestellt und diskutiert:
